Million Youth Peace March

The unity of a community can help propel a movement to a national scale. With everything we read in the news about gun violence, it is important to galvanize the people around us for a peaceful cause. This is why actress and singer Kitra Williams, along with her son Jayrah Gibson, have come together with others in the arts to put on the Million Youth Peace March, an event that culminates in a march from Lafayette Park to the Lincoln Memorial on Saturday, October 3rd.

Line up at the park will begin at 10 am and at noon the march will begin. There will be an amazing 500 strong Capital Hill multi-cultural choir directed by Grover Wilson and Elaine Ramos. The intention is to bridge the gap between the youths and police officers and come together in the name of peace. Among the stars there will be actor Tommy Ford and Harlem Globetrotter Choo Smith, who will help kick off the event.

To get things started, a black tie event is being held at the Double Tree by Hilton in Crystal City on Friday, October 2nd. The Agape Awards is a gospel music awards ceremony that will feature the stories of the lives of many people who have been effected by gun violence. Our very own CEO Kenneth Barnes will be honored there and will share his struggle as well as his vision for the future.

We march for the next generation, so that the sense of community overcomes the senseless violence. Come on out and enjoy the festivities!
